Jeff Hogue Joined Levi as New Chief Sustainability Officer

Must read

Levi Strauss & Co., a well-known American apparel company, recently welcomed Jeff Hogue as its new chief sustainability officer. Hogue has served the same role at C&A for six years before joining Levi, while also having led sustainability strategies at several other companies including McDonalds Corporation.

The company commented that “Jeff shares the same attitude that animates our sustainability work at Levi Strauss & Co.: the belief that it’s not enough for companies to make statements or sign pledges – it must be about impact. For us, sustainability is not just about how we do business, but also how we show up in the world and how we respond to what our planet, our business and our consumers need.”

Levi has recently promulgated sustainable development programs including Screened Chemistry and Water<Less, on top of its pre-existing science-based targets on climate change, Worker Well-being initiative, as well as product innovations like cottonized hemp.

Hogue joined forces with the company when the coronavirus pandemic has drawn attention to the importance of continuous innovation in sustainable development. “Building an economically and environmentally resilient business is key to addressing the overlapping challenges we need to confront as an industry, from climate risks and resource stress to consumption and gender inequality,” as the company pointed out on their blog post.
