Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) joins UN partnership program for sustainable capital markets

Must read

As HKEX continues to strengthen its commitment to promote sustainable and transparent capital markets, it has announced that it is now a Partner of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative.

The SSE works with its Partners on five key areas: ESG transparency; green finance; gender equality; sustainable small and medium -sized enterprise development; and partnering for sustainable development. It is a peer-to-peer learning platform for exploring how exchanges, in collaboration with investors, regulators, and companies, can enhance corporate transparency – and ultimately performance – on environmental, social and corporate governance issues and encourage sustainable investment.

HKEX is making strides in implementing stricter ESG requirements for its listed issuers. It requires its listed companies to report environmental, social and governance, or ESG, information, and provides both written guidance and training on this and other sustainability-related topics.

HKEX is the 74th stock exchange to join the UN SSE Initiative.
